Liverpool suffer blow in pursuit of Turkish ace

Liverpool have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Ozan Tufan after it has emerged that Fenerbahce a keen to keep hold of their in-demand star midfielder.

A source close to the player told Caught-Offside’s Eren Sarigul that the Istanbul Giants have no intention of selling their star asset this summer seeing that he joined the club a little under 12 months ago.

However, according to Talksport Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is plotting a move for the Fenerbahce midfielder this summer. The report claims that Liverpool could also face competition from their Premier League rivals Everton and Manchester United.

Tufan – who has four years remaining on his contract – has been valued at £20 million by Fenerbahce.

The 21-year-old  has established himself as one of the most promising midfielders in Turkish football and is represented by the same agent as Arda Turan.

Tufan’s manager Vitor Pereira recently described the box-to-box midfielder as reminding him of Yaya Toure.

“He still has a lot to learn and that is my job but the world will soon have a central midfielder on the level of Yaya Toure on their hands,” he said speaking on Sport Tv following Turkey’s 2-0 victory over the Czech Republic.

Tufan provided three assists and scored one goal in 46 appearances for Fenerbahce in all competitions last season.
