UEFA Twitter account claims Liverpool earned €6m for defender

Fenerbahce may have already completed the transfer of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel but the transfer fee has yet to be disclosed.

The official UEFA Champions League Twitter account did however, post a tweet claiming that Fenerbahce paid €6m million for the Slovakian international.

UEFA then deleted the post but it was already too late as several tweeters had already saved the tweet.

Below is a screenshot of the original tweet.

The reason as to why UEFA decided to delete the tweet remains unknown. Did they make an honest mistake or did someone on the inside spill the beans? We will find out over the next few days.

The 31-year-old defender passed his medical yesterday and put pen-to-paper on his new deal.

The Slovakian international will be officially unveiled in a signing ceremony set to be held at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium tomorrow as confirmed on the official Fenerbahce club website.
