Chelsea defender step closer to joining Turkish champions

Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo is on the verge of completing his loan move to Turkish champions Besiktas.

A source close to the player told Emre Sarigul that Besiktas have already agreed a deal with Chelsea and that the transfer will be officially announced over the next few days.

Omeruo was of course dropped from the pre-season squad that travelled to Austria according to the official club website.

The 22-year-old was training with the Chelsea squad until the announcement of the traveling Chelsea squad.

The Nigerian international defender is familiar with Turkish football as he spent last year in Istanbul playing for Super Lig outfit Kasimpasa.

The Istanbul giants are expected to loan Omeruo with a release clause option that will remain active until the end of the season.
