Agent refuses to confirm West Ham interest in Lazio star but confirms Turkish champions enquiry

Lazio midfielder Ogneyi Onazi has attracted interest from the Premier League and Turkey according to his agent but only Besiktas have so far been confirmed as making an enquiry for the Nigerian international midfielder.

Onazi’s agent Stephen Makinwa told Emre Sarigul that there is a lot of interest for the 23-year-old midfielder but could not confirm an offer from the Hammers and Sunderland.

There have also been links in the Turkish press regarding interest from Trabzonpor however, the agent did not confirm that the Black Sea based outfit making an offer.

“Onazi has years of Serie A experience and is just 23 years old so interest from clubs is normal. What I can say is that Besiktas are one of the sides interested,” he added.

“There are many clubs interested in the Onazi including from England,” Makinwa said.

The agent did not however, confirm which clubs from England have expressed an interested however, Talksport recently linked Sunderland West Ham with a move for the 23-year-old midfielder.

Per the source, several other sides including Everton, Southampton, Swansea and Greek giants Panathinaikos are also reported to be interested in the midfielder who is valued as being worth £7 million by Lazio.

Onazi made just 22 appearances for his club last season in all competitions but does have another two-years remaining on his current contract.
