Premier League giants warned that Leicester City star will cost £45m

Leicester City have reportedly placed a £45m price-tag on Riyad Mahrez as both Arsenal and Manchester City continue to be linked with the winger.

The PFA Player of the Year was highly influential last season as the Foxes went on to secure an unexpected Premier League triumph.

However, with N’Golo Kante opting to move on to Chelsea this summer, speculation has suggested that Mahrez could follow the Frenchman out of the exit door.

According to The Evening Standard, Leicester have no intention of letting the Algerian international leave though, but if forced into a position where they have to consider a sale, they are not willing to sell for anything less than £45m.

Mahrez has three years remaining on his current deal, but reportedly rejected an offer of a new contract this month which in turn unsurprisingly threw his future at the King Power Stadium in doubt as noted in the report.

Arsenal have been named as one of the interested parties by the Standard, and it remains to be seen whether or not Arsene Wenger is willing to splash out that amount on the Leicester ace.

Meanwhile, France Football add that City remain keen on Mahrez, after they were left particularly impressed with his performance against them at the Etihad last season in addition to his overall level of performance across the campaign.

The report adds that Barcelona also remain an option with Luis Enrique keen to also make an offer and add to his already formidable attacking line-up.

Mahrez scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists last season, and given the fact that Leicester signed him for just €450,000, should they decide to sell this summer, they will undoubtedly make a significant profit on the former Le Havre star.
