Man City boss Pep Guardiola bans pizza

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has made sweeping changes to the ways thing are done at the club.

One change that has caused quite a stir is banning the City players from pizza.

The ban on junk food sounds pretty logical considering the physical demands of Premier League football but City defender Clichy revealed that is not as common as many people think.

The pizza ban has not been met with resistance in fact Clichy stated that he finds the dietary changes ‘refreshing and very exciting’.

Clichy was quoted by the Guardian as saying: “He cut out some juice and pizza and all the heavy food is not allowed.

“Some people think: ‘That’s normal, it should be like this.’ But in truth it’s not always like this and I know because I’ve been playing football for a long time. It’s really refreshing and very exciting.”

Clichy underlined that Guardiola is very strict when it comes to health and that he is prepared to drop players based on their weight.

The French defender revealed that he has never experienced a manager that is so meticulous when it comes to the players health and diet.

“On the field, outside the field, every detail counts,” Clichy said. “For example, you often hear managers say being healthy is really important. With him, if you’re weight is too high, you’re not training with the team. That is the first thing and you can hear it a lot, but for my part it’s the first time any manager has really done it. So we have a few players who are not training with the team yet.”
