Galatasaray make offer for £12m Arsenal defensive target

Galatasaray sporting director Levent Nazifoglu has confirmed making an offer for Manchester City defender Jason Denayer.

Nazifoglu underlined that Galatasaray want Denayer back at the club after a successful loan spell last season.

“Denayer settled in well last season and we want him back but it all now depends on what he says and what Manchester City decide,” he was quoted as saying by Turkish-football.com.

“We want him and so does the manager and City know this.”

A source close to Galatasaray told Emre Sarigul that they have been keeping close tabs on Denayer and are waiting for a decision on their offer from City.

The Lions would be hoping to sign the young defender on a temporary move as City value him as being worth £12 million. The fact that the Belgium international wants first team football and has moved further down the pecking order has strengthened the Istanbul giants claim.

Galatasaray could however, face competitions from North London based outfit Arsenal according to The Sun.

Per the source, he could be available for a £12 million fee and the Gunners are in the market for a defensive transfer after suffering an injury crisis at the back.

Denayer was expected to struggle for playing time this season but with the arrival of John Stones from Everton he may no long be in Pep Guardiola’s plans.

The young defender defender did not feature in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal in Sweden last week despite Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala all being out.
