Manchester United have set their sights on Southampton’s star centre-back Jose Fonte according to The Sun.
The daily tabloid states that Untied boss Jose Mourinho wants additional options in defence and has targeted fellow countryman Fonte. Per-the-source Mourinho wants to add experience to his back-line and the Euro 2016 winner is keen on the move.
The report also says that United are willing to offer the Argentina international Marcos Rojo as part of the offer for Fonte.
The Sun goes onto state that Arsenal are also interested in signing Fonte as they look for remedies to solve their defensive crisis. Arsene Wenger is looking for additional options in defence after losing centre back duo Per Mertesacker and Gabriel to injury.
Fonte has played almost 250 league games in six years for Southampton and starred for Portugal during Euro 2016 earlier this summer.
United take on Southampton this weekend in the Premier League which may prove to be Fonte’s final game for the Saints.
