Liverpool transfer news: Stoke City table bid for out-of-favour France international

Stoke City have tabled a bid for Liverpool’s out-of-favour defender Mamadou Sakho according to the Express.

The daily newspaper states that Stoke boss Mark Hughes is keen to bolster his defensive options and wants to sign Sakho before the end of the summer transfer window.

Per-the-source, Liverpool are prepared to offload the France international following disciplinary problems during pre-season.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp sent Sakho home from the pre-season tour after falling out with the powerful defender following his injury.

Sakho reportedly turned up late for training, was late for a team flight from Liverpool to California last month and also turned up for a team meal late after missing his treatment session at the squad camp in Palo Alto.

However, Liverpool are only willing to allow Sakho to leave on a loan deal  as they still consider the France international to be a important player for the future.

Liverpool take on Tottenham in their third game of the Premier League season.
