Europa League draw: Man United to rack up 7,588 air miles on Thursday adventures

The Europa League draw has given Manchester United two long away trips.

United have been paired in Group A with Turkey’s Fenerbahce and Ukraine’s Zorya Luhansk.

The Red Devils have also been given a relatively simple trip – in terms of travel at least – to Holland to play Feyenoord.

The figures above were provided by ManUtd.com and are only one-way.

When doubled to factor in the return journeys, United’s three away games in this season’s Europe League group stage will seemingly involve 7,588 miles travelled in the air.

Although the logistics for these games may been a pain, United should have no problems on the pitch, especially against Luhansk, who only finished fourth in the Ukrainian Premier League last season and have since lost their top goalscorer, Pylyp Budkivskyi.

Feyenoord, too, should be easily overpowered by United. The Rotterdam outfit are a shadow of their former selves and relied upon 36-year-old Dirk Kuyt to topscore for them last term.

Turkish side Fenerbahce are likely to be United’s toughest opponents. The 2015-16 Super Lig runners-up have ex-United striker Robin van Persie in their attacking ranks. He will be keen to prove a point, as will Slovakian hardman Martin Skrtel who recently moved to Istanbul from United’s arch rivals, Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Southampton have been placed in Group K alongside Inter Milan, Sparta Prague and Hapoel Beer Sheva.
