Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made a controversial decision in his starting line-up ahead of the PSG clash on Tuesday when he picked David Ospina ahead of first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Wenger looked to have egg on his face after his side conceded the fastest goal ever in Champions League history when Edisson Cavani scored inside 42 seconds to put PSG ahead.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was initially criticised for starting with Ospina in goal but by the end of the 90 minutes the Colombian international was being praised by just about everyone.
Ospina made several vital stops to prevent PSG from scoring a second goal and was arguably the man of the match.
Wenger defended his decision to start Ospina after the game and described the keeper as being a world class player.
The French manager underlined that he has two world class keepers in his current squad – Petr Cech and Ospina.
“I agree with you. In the decisive moments when he could have [conceded] a penalty, when at one down in the first half he came out with a good header. You know, I have two world-class goalkeepers, I will repeat that. I know we have enough games to give them games. But if you cannot play… you cannot keep as well two world-class goalkeepers that don’t get games,” Wenger was quoted as saying on the official Arsenal website.
