Arsenal are on a three game winning run in the Premier League but will face stiff opposition over the weekend against Chelsea in the London derby.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed on the official Arsenal website that Olivier Giroud is not available and could be ruled out against the Blues due to injury although it will be a game time decision.
There was better news on the defensive front as long term absentee Gabriel has recovered from injury and could mark his return against Nottingham Forrest in the League Cup.
In other Arsenal team news Carl Jenkinson has not returned to training yet and Aaron Ramsey will be out against the Blues.
Star playmaker Mesut Ozil and Chilean international Alexis Sanchez are however, match fit and ready to start.
Arsenal take on Nottingham Forrest next in the League Cup on Tuesday 20 September at the City Ground before hosting Chelsea at the Emirates.
The Gunners are currently fifth in the Premier League just five points behind league leaders Manchester City.
