Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard has reportedly reached an agreement with the club over a new four-year deal which will see him earn £50,000-a-week.

The 23-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract, but has been evident that he wished to extend his time at Old Trafford having come through the academy and established himself in the senior squad.

According to The Sun, he’s about to get his wish with a new deal set to be signed, and it’s one that will see the winger double his wages.

“There has been talks between the club and Jesse’s representatives for a few weeks now,” a United source told the newspaper.

“There has been no issues and the club lawyers are just in the process of completing all the paperwork.”

Lingard initially had to bide his time with regards to a place in the starting line-up after impressing at youth level, and was shipped out on several loan deals to continue to gain experience and to develop his game.

However, he’s undoubtedly made progress in recent years and will look to continue to fight for his place in the United line-up moving forward having made 47 appearances in all competitions last season.

It hasn’t quite gone to plan under Jose Mourinho so far this season as he’s made just two appearances thus far, while he was also hauled off at half-time in the Manchester derby.

Nevertheless, Mourinho would have to give the green light to the new contract, and if the Portuguese tactician is happy to see Lingard offered fresh terms, then perhaps that signals that he’s more than happy to have the United ace at his disposal moving forward.
