Manchester United produced a clinical display in the first-half against Leicester City at Old Trafford, opening up a 4-0 lead against the Premier League champions.
The visitors had their moments early on, but after Chris Smalling gave United the lead with a bullet header from a corner, Claudio Ranieri’s afternoon gradually went from bad to horrendous.
While there were goals for Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba, the latter’s first in a United shirt, this wonderful team effort from the hosts was arguably the pick of the bunch.
From Pogba’s delicate ball into Jesse Lingard, to the 23-year-old’s wonderful pass round the corner to put Juan Mata through as the Spaniard produced a brilliant finish to make it 2-0.
Given their troubles in recent weeks with a spell in which they lost three games in eight days, United looked back at their aggressive and attacking best in the first 45 minutes on Saturday, as Jose Mourinho looked for a reaction from his players with a Wayne Rooney-less starting line-up certainly finding their stride.
