Arsenal to offer star new lucrative five-year deal to fend off Barcelona and Premier League rivals

Arsenal are reportedly set to offer Hector Bellerin a new five-year contract in a bid to secure his long-term future amid interest from Barcelona and Man City.

The Spaniard has established himself as one of the best right-backs in world football with his consistency over the last year or so, and continues to play an integral role in the Gunners’ success.

As noted by The Sun, both Barcelona and Manchester City have been linked with the speedy Arsenal star, but they could both see their efforts to sign him fall on deaf ears.

According to the same publication, Gunners chiefs are unsurprisingly keen to get Bellerin to agree to new terms and will begin talks with him after the international break.

The 21-year-old has three years remaining on his current deal, but that hasn’t prevented the club from starting work early on a two-year extension which will include a salary increase too according to the report.

Arsenal are currently on a nine-game unbeaten streak in all competitions, with their dramatic late win at Burnley on Sunday lifting them to third place in the Premier League table and to within just two points of league leaders City.

In turn, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil also waiting on new deals, as noted by The Sun, it’s arguably the perfect time to maintain their momentum by getting new deals in place and ensuring that the individuals pivotal to their future success have no off-the-field distractions when it comes to their respective futures.

Bellerin has taken his Premier League appearance tally up to 63, having established himself as an ever-present for Arsene Wenger’s men last season and has picked up from where he left off last year so far this season.
