Manchester United are intent on signing Antoine Griezmann and are willing to use his friend Paul Pogba to help convince him make the move to Old Trafford, according to The Sun.

Per-the-source, Griezmann has a £89 million release clause and United hope Pogba will be the key to edging out rivals Chelsea in the race to sign the France international.

The Sun goes onto state that Griezmann is Jose Mourinho’s number one target.

However, the Telegraph states that Chelsea are willing to match Griezmann’s £89 million release clause. The fee would make Griezmann’s the most expensive player ever.

The 25-year-old was the star of the show at Euro 2016 for France and picked up the Golden Boot after netting six goals and two assists. The hosts were eventually defeated by Portugal in the final.

United take on their bitter rivals Liverpool on October 17. The Reds come into the clash in good form having recorded five wins in a row.
