Arsenal player ratings: Mustafi and Iwobi struggle with 5/10s but midfield stays strong

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham in the north London derby on Sunday, with Arsene Wenger’s men stretching their unbeaten record to 16 games in all competitions.

A Kevin Wimmer own goal gave the Gunners the lead in the first half, but Harry Kane struck from the penalty spot to ensure that the two sides picked up a point apiece.

Check out our Arsenal player ratings below:

Petr Cech – 7

Gave Arsenal fans a real scare when he slipped in a race with Heung-Min Son, but made some really key saves to ensure they took a point.

Hector Bellerin – 7

Not as influential as usual with his attacking play down the right flank, but was kept busy defensively and produced a solid display.

Shkodran Mustafi – 5

The German international wasn’t as convincing as he usually is as he looked vulnerable at times with Son’s pace causing him problems.

Laurent Koscielny – 6

Gave away the penalty which sees him marked down but was an otherwise commanding display overall.

Nacho Monreal – 7

An absolutely brilliant last-ditch tackle to deny Kane a tap-in in the second half as the Spaniard proved how important he is to Arsenal on his return.

Granit Xhaka – 7

A solid display from the Swiss ace as he combined well with Coquelin. Displayed good maturity too with some expecting his disciplinary problems to come to the fore again.

Francis Coquelin – 7

A tireless and tenacious display from the Frenchman as always, as he added a much-needed steeliness to the Arsenal midfield.

Theo Walcott – 6

Sent a thumping effort off the post and did cause Spurs a few problems, but it wasn’t his best effort particularly given his form this season.

Mesut Ozil – 6

Wasn’t his usual influential self in the final third given the high standards that he sets, but did deliver a superb ball to force Wimmer into the own goal.

Alex Iwobi – 5

Not the youngster’s best game as he struggled to get into the game at times, while he snatched at a really good chance in the first half.

Alexis Sanchez – 6

Worked tireless off the ball and kept the Spurs backline on their toes throughout. However, wasn’t able to offer a decisive impact in the final third.

Substitutes

Aaron Ramsey – 5

Skied a couple of decent chances over as he struggled to catch up to the pace of the game.

Olivier Giroud – 5

Offered presence up front but couldn’t make the difference as he did last weekend.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 5

Didn’t do much to effect the game after he replaced Walcott.
