Ryan Giggs has revealed the total control that Sir Alex Ferguson had over the Manchester United dressing room, as well as the one player allowed to do as they please under the legendary manager – Eric Cantona.

Today’s Mirror carries an interview with the Welsh winger where he reveals the secrets of sharing a dressing room with some of the game’s legends, including Cristiano Ronaldo, whose love of the mirror is noted by his former teammate.

But Ronaldo, despite being a Fergie favourite, was not the player who was able to get away with most.

Giggs claims it was Eric Cantona who was given the longest leash by his manager.

“Eric got away with murder” Giggs claims, “he never got the hairdryer.”

Clearly Sir Alex knew that giving his flair players a little more leeway would be beneficial to them and to the team.

But despite the majesty of King Eric, Cristiano takes the prize for the best player that Giggs has played with:

“He’s an unbelievable athlete and player – the best I played with”.

Some United fans will be shocked to hear Giggs say Ronaldo over Paul Scholes, Eric Cantona and the many other greats that the Welshman lined up alongside.
