Chelsea and Man United among 11 Premier League sides scouting teenage sensation

Nottingham Forest forward Ben Brereton is receiving plenty of attention, with 11 Premier League clubs reportedly sending scouts to watch him this week.

The 17-year-old was unable to impress as Forest lost 4-1 in their FA Youth Cup clash with Stoke City, but that won’t take too much away from his good form this season.

Having scored 15 goals in 20 games at Under-23 level, he has attracted the attention of a number of top Premier League clubs, with The Daily Mail reporting that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Everton and Tottenham were amongst those to send scouts to watch him closely.

It’s added in the report that Liverpool and United are likely to be the first to make offers for the talented teenager, but it remains to be seen whether or not he opts for a move away at this stage of his career.

All the top clubs have seen something in him to warrant giving him their attention, and so he’ll be keen to continue his good form, help Forest and earn himself a major move to one of the leading clubs in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, on a negative side of it, it just shows how difficult it is for lower league sides to keep hold of their top players, even for a club like Forest with their history and stature.

Although the club has been going through it’s fair share of problems under the current ownership, supporters will be furious if they lose another top young talent with top-flight clubs doing their scouting and snatching up those who they believe will make the grade.
