€10m-rated AC Milan flop set for exit as Chinese clubs prepare to swoop and give Italian giants much-needed funds

AC Milan midfielder Jose Sosa could be set to leave the club after just six months with reports claiming he has attracted interest from China.

The 31-year-old has failed to make any sort of impact at the San Siro so far this season, as he has struggled to break into Vincenzo Montella’s starting line-up.

With a preferred midfield trio of Manuel Locatelli, Juraj Kucka and Giacomo Bonaventura, it’s unlikely that Sosa will have any opportunities to displace them, as there is additional midfield competition arguably also ahead of him in the pecking order.

In turn, Milan will possibly be hoping for a Chinese club to swoop, with Calciomercato reporting that both Hebei Fortune and Beijing Duoan are interested.

It’s added that his agent will be in Italy next week for a meeting with the Rossoneri, and it’s expected that it will be established then that the Argentine midfielder will leave but his destination remains unclear.

Given that the club have confirmed on several occasions that they must sell first in order to buy this month, if they are able to offload Sosa and get a significant fee for him, it should allow Montella to strengthen his squad before the end of January.

However, Milan can’t think that far ahead, as Calciomercato have run a separate report noting that Sosa turned down a contract offer worth €5m-per-year from Fenerbahce.

Whether that was to do with his Besiktas past is unclear, but perhaps he’s waiting for a more lucrative offer before accepting an exit from Italy.

Sosa has played a measly 395 minutes of football so far this season, and with Milan chasing €10m-plus for him, it looks as though China is the only possible destination with the club targeting Milan Badelj or Gerard Deulofeu with the funds, as per Calciomercato.
