A Manchester United target has seen his price-tag plummet according to reports and could leave his current club for just £28m.

Italian sports outlet CalcioMercato have reported that Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez could leave in January for as little as £28m (€30m) with Manchester United longtime admirers of the star.

The Moroccan has failed to recapture the form that he produced when he lead Leicester to that historic Premier League title in the 2015/16 season and while he has been linked with a move away from the King Power stadium consistently for the past year it appears his price-tag is starting to plummet in correlation to his decline in form.

While the report notes the longterm interest from United, it appears that French club Marseille could now be leading the way to sign the attacking midfielder.

Mahrez was of-ourse the PFA player of the year in 2016 and has attracted interest from Chelsea, United and even Italian club Roma in recent times (as per CM) but it appears he now may have to result to a rather underwhelming move back to the French league if he truly wants an exit away from the Foxes.

Since that historic season that Leicester clinched Premier League glory they have parted ways with two managers and lost influential stars Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante to Chelsea. Mahrez’s own personal demise in form almost personifies the club’s disappointing last year since winning the league. One can only assume that the midfielder’s price will only continue to decrease if Leicester fail to recapture just a fraction of their form from their 2015/16 title winning campaign.
