Arsenal handed second chance to seal exciting forward transfer after invitation from Champions League giants

Arsenal have reportedly been given another shot at sealing the transfer of Paris Saint-Germain forward Julian Draxler as he’s made available by the club this January.

The Gunners could face competition from Liverpool for the Germany international’s signature as PSG are said to have notified Premier League clubs about his availability, according to the Daily Mirror.

Draxler has shone for PSG but no longer looks guaranteed a regular place in the side after the summer arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in attack, while the Ligue 1 giants are also under pressure to sell players due to Financial Fair Play regulations.

It remains to be seen where Draxler will end up, but he’d certainly be an ideal purchase for Arsenal at this stage amid doubts over key attackers in their own ranks.

Another recent report from the Mirror has claimed Mesut Ozil is confident of leaving Arsenal for rivals Manchester United, while another report from the Mirror this weekend suggests Alexis Sanchez could be the latest big name to rock up at PSG.

This would leave Arsene Wenger desperately short of quality in the final third, but Draxler could fit in perfectly in either role vacated by Ozil and Sanchez.

A versatile and intelligent player, the 24-year-old has operated as a winger or wide forward at various points in his career, whilst also shining in a deeper midfield role for PSG this season.

The Mirror’s report adds that Arsenal were also interested in Draxler in the summer, so this could finally be their chance to land this long-term Wenger target.
