Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka didn’t have a great 45 minutes against West Ham United on Wednesday night, and the fans made their feelings clear at the break.
Deployed in a midfield three along with Jack Wilshere and Alex Iwobi as Arsene Wenger switched to a 4-3-3, the Swiss international found it tough going at the London Stadium.
While he was unable to have a positive influence on the game, he came under fire on Twitter, as seen below, but in truth, it was a poor performance overall by the Gunners in a disappointing performance in general.
Given their display against Southampton in a 1-1 draw at St. Mary’s at the weekend, more was expected this time out as Wenger’s side can ill-afford to drop further points in the race to finish in the top four this season.
However, they were unable to get going and couldn’t find that sharpness or decisive touch in the final third, with Xhaka unfortunately being singled out at the half-time interval by supporters.
It’s been a mixed bag from him since he joined the club, as at times he has impressed and shown he can be an important figure in the midfield. However, there are also many negatives to consider too…
