Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen for his club to seal the transfer of Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic as he looks to have become available.
The Croatia international has not managed to find his best form during his time at the Bernabeu, but previously impressed as a promising youngster in Serie A with Inter Milan.
According to Don Balon, Real are now ready to make him available after a poor showing in El Clasico, with Zinedine Zidane unwilling to give him the playing time he wants.
The report suggests this could alert United as Mourinho is a fan of the 23-year-old, who could perhaps still revive his promising career with the right move.

Kovacic could fill a problem position at Old Trafford, with the likes of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini heading towards the ends of their contracts at the club.
United fans may be hoping for their club to aim a little higher than a player like Kovacic, but it may also be worth trusting Mourinho’s judgement as he’s a famously picky manager.
Big names like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata are among those not to be regulars under the Portuguese in recent times, so it may be that he’s seen something worth gambling on in the form of Kovacic.
