Manchester United are reportedly ready to consider allowing Juan Mata to leave on a free transfer to make room for the possible arrival of Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The Red Devils have been among a number of clubs linked with the Germany international in recent months, as he, like Mata, heads towards the end of his current contract in the summer.
The Daily Mirror reported earlier in the season that Ozil was confident of getting his move to Old Trafford, though speculation has somewhat died down recently.
Still, the Mirror now report that Mata is a transfer target for Inter Milan as he looks increasingly unlikely to remain at United, due, in part to the club’s interest in Ozil.

The Spain international has been a key player for United since joining from Chelsea back in 2014, but he arguably hasn’t made the desired impact when used this season.
Mata is, however, hugely popular among the club’s fans and many will be disappointed to see him go if his contract is allowed to just run down.
The 29-year-old is known for being the ultimate professional, and has shown his class by setting up the Common Goal scheme, encouraging footballers and other athletes to donate 1% of their earnings to charity.
