The FA Cup action continues on Sunday as teams from the Premier League and Championship take on lower league opposition all hoping to avoid being the victim of a famous giant killing.
England’s most famous cup competition is often underestimated these days but it can still spell the end for managers, with Mark Hughes sacked from Stoke after the Potters went down 2-1 against Coventry yesterday.
Will we see any upsets today?
To kick things off Leeds United head to Newport County with both sides going well in their respective leagues. But as you’d expect Leeds are heavy favourites to see off their League Two rivals.
And with the form they’ve shown over the festive period I can’t see them being derailed here. For added acca value Leeds win to nil is 23/10.
League One high flyers Shrewsbury Town will have a giant killing in sight when they welcome David Moyes’ West Ham United to New Meadow.
The Hammers have turned a corner under David Moyes and head into Sunday’s FA Cup clash unbeaten in four. But The Shrews will be no pushovers.
The surprise package of League One this season Paul Hurst has Shrewsbury mixing it with the league’s big boys in the top six. They currently occupy second spot, two points behind leaders Wigan and for me have the best chance of an upset on Sunday.
West Ham could rest a number of key players so the double chance Shrewsbury or Draw at 9/10 makes the acca.
AFC Wimbledon are heading to Wembley for their 3rd Round FA Cup clash against Premier League outfit Spurs. The League One side are a massive 30/1 to stun Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Can they cause the shock of the weekend? Probably not.
For me Tottenham will have far too much quality even if they decide to rest a number of key players. So spurs win to nil at 7/10 makes the acca.
And finally the reigning champions Arsenal face two time FA Cup winners Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Forest head into the game without a manager following the departure of Mark Warburton. And you feel they’ll have to be at their best to derail the Gunners.
With the league title gone and a top four spot looking unlikely, Wenger is likely to take the FA Cup serious. So expect a relatively strong line-up. Arsenal at 3/5 look a good price against a side struggling for form.
So there you have it, a nice 15/1 acca for Sunday’s FA Cup action.
