Liverpool and Tottenham suffer potential blow in pursuit of Argentina star as player admits he “would love to return to Italy” amid rumours of transfer

Liverpool and Spurs have suffered a potential blow in their reported of Argentina and PSG star Javier Pastore, after the player admitted that he “would love to return to Italy”.

This is according to the Metro, who are reporting that the Premier League duo have both made bids for the player, however the former Palermo ace rejected the opportunity to play in England.

The news outlet are also reporting that Inter Milan are keeping an eye on the player’s situation, and that Pastore has his heart set on a move back to Italy with there being nothing decided yet over his future.

Speaking about his future, Pastore said “I don’t know what will happen and yes there is a lot of talk about Inter Milan but let’s see. If I do leave, I would love to return to Italy since I know that league well. Even so, there isn’t any decisions that have been made yet.”

 

It seems as if Pastore has his heart set on a return to Italy

During his time in France, Pastore has had a fairly successful time since his move from Palermo in 2012.

Since his move, the midfielder has managed to make an impressive 251 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants, with the player scoring 45 and assisting 57 in that time period, meaning that he contributes to around one goal every 2 and a half games.

Since the start of the 2015/16 season, Pastore has found his first team chances somewhat limited, with the Argentinian international only being able to make a total of 45 league appearances out of a possible 99.

During his career, Pastore has shown that he is capable of playing in a number of positions, with the player being primarily deployed as an attacking midfielder, right winger, left winger and central midfielder during his time as a player.

Following Pastore’s words on his future, it seems as both Liverpool and Spurs may be losing the battle to secure the Argentine’s signature.
