Liverpool may have received a major boost in their pursuit of the transfer of Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas as he seemingly thinks he’s on his way to the Premier League.
The Costa Rica international could make a fine signing for the Reds, who look in urgent need of an upgrade on Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius in that position.
This seems to be a big u-turn from Navas, with Diario Gol recently claiming he’d snubbed offers from Liverpool and Sevilla as he was determined to stay and fight for his place at Real Madrid.
Still, the latest from Diario Gol is that Navas has now told Cristiano Ronaldo that he’s going to the Premier League and that he’s pushing for Florentino Perez to make his departure a smooth one.
Liverpool certainly have their issues defensively under Jurgen Klopp, with even the signing of Virgil van Dijk this January not yet working out as expected.
Having looked one of the most solid centre-backs in the Premier League during his time at Southampton, Van Dijk has so far looked unconvincing in a Liverpool shirt.
It remains to be seen if simply replacing Mignolet and Karius with Navas would be enough for the Merseyside giants to improve on their dodgy record at the back, though it would surely be a start.
The 31-year-old has won two Champions League titles and La Liga since moving to Madrid back in 2014.
