AC Milan transfer news: Club chief dismisses talk of star man joining Inter

As the AC Milan squad returned to pre-season training on Monday, sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli addressed transfer rumours concerning the club’s stars.

The Rossoneri missed out on Champions League football again last season, with their sixth-placed finish only enough to secure a return to the Europa League.

However, even that’s been cast into doubt after UEFA delivered their verdict on an FFP breach to exclude the Italian giants from Europe next season, albeit they have since launched an appeal, as per Sky Sports.

Further, as noted by The Daily Mail, there are ongoing issues surrounding Yonghong Li’s ownership of the club and so that has in turn led to a postponement in transfer activity for the most part as Milan seemingly don’t know the budget that they’ll have this summer.

Nevertheless, one rumour that can be dismissed according to Mirabelli is the one linking Suso with a shock move to city rivals Inter, as he specifically addressed the speculation on Monday.

“As far as I’m concerned, agents can talk but I can categorically rule out him going to Inter,” he told the media, as reported by Calciomercato. “He has a clause for foreign clubs but he has always stated that he wants to stay at Milan and we trust in this.”

The 24-year-old had another productive campaign last season, scoring eight goals and providing 14 assists in 50 appearances for the Rossoneri.

However, his form did tail off closer to the end of the year, as it did the previous season, and with the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu and Giacomo Bonaventura arguably stealing the limelight from him in emerging as the creative sparks in Gennaro Gattuso’s side, question marks were raised over Suso.

Based on Mirabelli’s assessment of the situation though, the Spanish winger is going nowhere for the time being, and certainly isn’t leaving to join Inter.
