England vs Croatia Match Odds

England are just one game away from a first World Cup final since 1966, scenes. Gareth Southgate’s side cruised past Sweden in the quarter finals to set up a semi-final clash with Croatia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Meanwhile Croatia needed penalties, for the second game running, to see off a resilient Russia side that had exceeded all expectations in their own back yard. The Croatians were dropping like flies during extra time on Saturday, but Zlatko Dali?will be hoping his side can recover in time for Wednesday’s first ever World Cup encounter with the Three Lions.

England are 11/8 favourites to win in 90 minutes, which looks a decent price, while Croatia are 5/2 and the draw is 2/1.

Kane celebrates England Panama. Who could England face in the World Cup 2018 last 16?

Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as England thrashed Panama

If football is coming home then England must rise to the challenge. This will be their biggest test yet. Jordan Henderson has been struggling with a tight hamstring but is expected to play – and he’ll have to be at his very best against the world class Luka Modric and Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic.

Don’t be surprised if Southgate opts to field an extra central midfielder in an attempt to nullify the Croatian’s threat in midfield.

Harry Kane continues to lead the way as the tournament’s top goal scorer. The Three Lions have been heavily reliant on the Spurs forward who has six goals to his name so far this summer and is 3/1 to open the scoring against Croatia.

That said, England showed they’re not a one man team against Sweden. Harry Maguire, who has been threatening all tournament from set pieces, bagged his first international goal before Dele Ali popped up with a second half header.

England have caused havoc from set pieces, bagging eight of their 11 World Cup goals from corners, free kicks or penalties.

With that in mind Harry Maguire 12/1 and John Stones 16/1 both look good value to score anytime.

At the other end of the pitch, though, Stones and Maguire will be up against Mario Mandzukic

On his day the target man can be unplayable, but he hasn’t delivered in Russia. So it would be typical of him to put in a big display when it really matters.

Mandzukic is 7/2 to score anytime and 8/1 to score first.

Rashford starts for England vs Netherlands

England boss Southgate has been all praise for Rashford

England have enjoyed lots of success with Trippier and Young bombing on, but against Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic they’ll have to make sure they don’t leave too much space in behind because unlike Sweden, Panama or Tunisia they have the skill and composure to punish England.

On paper there’s not much between these two sides, both have one or two potential world class players, a solid game plan and have exceeded all expectations at World Cup 2018.

But you don’t get remembered for reaching the semi finals.

Both sides will never have a better opportunity to reach a World Cup final and with so much at stake it would be no surprise to see this one go to extra time or even penalties.

Either team to win in extra time 5/1 and either team on penalties is 4/1.
