After being heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, midfielder Jean-Michael Seri has opted for Fulham as his signing was officially announced on Thursday.

The 26-year-old impressed for Nice after joining the Ligue 1 outfit in 2015, making 121 appearances while helping to guide them into Europe.

However, he’s now set for the next chapter in his career as he’ll look to play a prominent role in helping Fulham preserve their Premier League status after they successfully earned promotion from the Championship last season, defeating Aston Villa in the playoff final.

The Cottagers have fended off serious competition though, as according to The Sun, rivals Chelsea were also keen on taking Seri to Stamford Bridge this summer with the midfield ace said to be valued at around £25m.

Seemingly delighted to have beaten the Blues to the signing, Fulham appear to have had a little fun at their expense by aiming a cheeky dig at Chelsea in their announcement video, as seen below.

Just as the video begins, a fake newspaper headline reads: “Chelsea wishlist includes Jean-Michael Seri”, as seen in the image below.

Evidently basking in their transfer coup, Fulham couldn’t help themselves as Chelsea will now seemingly be forced to look elsewhere to bolster their midfield ahead of the new campaign having disappointingly missed out on one of their transfer targets.
