Chelsea fans may want to look away now as it seems increasingly likely the Blues are set to lose two of their best players to Real Madrid before the end of the transfer window.
Speculation has been rife all summer as far as Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois are concerned, and a fresh transfer update will make grim reading for fans of the west London giants.
According to RMC, Courtois could be just days away from completing a move to the Bernabeu, which is in line with other reports, such as HLN claiming the 26-year-old has been in advanced talks over a move, while Onda Cero add that he’s been in Spain ahead of an imminent final decision on his future.
RMC’s report adds that Hazard has a verbal agreement to move to Madrid, and while they stress that the two clubs are yet to strike a deal, that could be just around the corner if speculation elsewhere is anything to go by.
The Daily Mail suggest Real are lining up a £150million bid for the former Lille attacker, whom Chelsea have failed to persuade to sign a new contract.
It’s surreal to see Chelsea looking like losing two big names given that they have largely held on to their stars in the Roman Abramovich era, but it’s not looking promising for them this summer.
Courtois’ sale makes sense given he has just a year left on his contract, and it may be best for the club to cash in on him now.
Hazard, however, may have forced their hand slightly after these recent quotes after the World Cup…
‘After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different. Certainly after this World Cup,’ the 27-year-old is quoted as telling HLN, translated by 101greatgoals.
‘I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision – if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination.’
If this doesn’t have Chelsea fans worried then we don’t know what will!
