Lionel Messi has learned that Barcelona are keen on bringing in PSG and Belgium star Thomas Meunier from the French giants this summer.
This is according to Don Balon, who are stating that the club are hopeful about managing to get a deal for Meunier over the line this summer, and that the Belgian international could be signed by Barca in the ‘coming days’.
Diario Gol have reported previously that the defender is set to cost the club around €30M, a great price for a player who was absolutely superb at the World Cup this summer.
Meunier would be a quality addition to the Blaugrana’s side, as his pace and ability on the ball would make him a real asset for manager Ernesto Valverde.
For Belgium, the PSG ace was sensational at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, with the player somehow not making the team of the tournament ahead of England’s Trippier.
Signing Meunier could also have other benefits for Barca, as his arrival would allow Sergi Roberto to move into midfield, his preferred position, instead of continuing to be deployed as a right back.
Only time will tell if Meunier will be moving to the Camp Nou this window, a move that we’re sure all Barca fans will be hoping to be finalised before this summer’s over.
