Chelsea are reportedly moving ahead of Liverpool in the chase for the signing of £65m-rated Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic.

The 19-year-old has made quite the impression in the early part of his career, impressing for both club and country to this point.

Pulisic has bagged 12 goals in 97 games for Dortmund while also impressing with other facets of his game in the final third, while he has nine goals in 21 caps for USA, all before he’s even turned 20.

With that in mind, it’s fair to say that he’s a top prospect for the future, but whether his development is set to continue with the German giants remains to be seen.

According to The Mirror, Chelsea are stepping up their pursuit for the £65m-rated teenage starlet and have reportedly opened discussions with Dortmund over a possible deal. The report also specifically notes that Liverpool have been keen on the US international for some time.

In turn, if Jurgen Klopp is to make a move to bolster his squad further this summer, then he may be well advised to move quickly in order to avoid losing too much ground to Chelsea.

Pulisic boasts the versatility to play on either flank or in a more central role, and so that will likely appeal to Chelsea in order to give Maurizio Sarri a different dynamic in the final third along with quality and depth.

The Italian tactician will be busy trying to stamp his mark on the squad he inherited from Antonio Conte this summer, with Jorginho the only notable arrival at Stamford Bridge thus far.

Given Pulisic’s technical quality, threat in attacking positions and work ethic to play the high tempo and high pressing game Sarri has adopted throughout his coaching career, he could be an ideal addition to the Blues squad this summer if a deal can be done with Dortmund.
