Julen Lopetegui gives Real Madrid green light to seal transfer of €100M-rated La Liga star

It’s been fairly obvious for a while now that Karim Benzema is starting to decline as a player, with the French struggling to score goals consistently over the last few years.

Having sold Alvaro Morata in the summer of 2016, Benzema was tasked with solely leading the line for Los Blancos last year, something he struggled with dearly, as he only bagged five goals in 32 league appearances.

And it looks as if the club are eyeing a player who could provide some competition for the Frenchman, as Diario Gol are noting that the club are targeting Spain and Valencia forward Rodrigo.

The report also states that the player has a release clause of €100M, and that Julen Lopegui has given the club the go-ahead to sign the Spaniard.

Lopetegui has given Real the thumbs up to bring Rodrigo to the Spanish capital this summer

Rodrigo was in excellent form for Los Che last season, so it’s no wonder to see Los Blancos keen to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

The 27-year-old bagged 19 goals and seven assists in all competitions last year, as he helped Valencia secure a fourth-placed finish in La Liga and the Champions League football that comes with it.

The Spanish international’s lightning-quick pace and ability to finish with both feet, as well as his versatility, make him a great buy for any side, especially like Real Madrid, who are in desperate need of a clinical striker up front after losing Ronaldo.
