Barcelona may employ same tactics that secured Coutinho’s signature to lure Man United star to the Camp Nou

Former Liverpool man Phillipe Coutinho left the club for Spain in January rather than the previous summer and now Paul Pogba could follow suit.

Paul Pogba was one of France’s standout performers in Russia this summer as Didier Deschamps’ men lifted the World Cup for the second time in the country’s history.

The Red Devils midfielder scored the third goal in their final 4-2 victory against Croatia and produced several brilliant displays throughout the tournament from the middle of the park, finally living up to his immense potential on the biggest stage.

According to The Independent, the 25-year-old star is not certain to return in the Premier League for Manchester United in their latest campaign, as Barcelona’s reported interest grows stronger with each passing day.

Pogba’s second spell at Old Trafford has been a largely inconsistent one so far, with The Daily Star reporting that he has endured a difficult relationship with manager Jose Mourinho at times over the last two years.

Should he end up leaving United then it would be a huge loss for the team as they try to chase down Manchester City this coming year, but The Independent is also reporting that Barcelona may be prepared to play the long game in pursuit of the Frenchman.

The Blaugrana’s pursuit of Phillipe Coutinho from Liverpool last summer was relentless, but they ultimately waited until January to finally bring him to the Camp Nou, which could be the same approach they take this time around with Pogba.

With just one day left in the English transfer window expect more twists and turns in this story tomorrow before the window closes until January, but even if the clubs most valuable asset ends up staying in Manchester for now, the shadow of Barcelona will continue to loom ominously in the background.
