AC Milan transfer news: Club drop hint over ace’s exit, deal edges closer for Chelsea star

AC Milan forward Andre Silva is reportedly edging closer to a move to join Sevilla, just a year after joining the Rossoneri from Porto.

The 22-year-old struggled last season, scoring just 10 goals in 40 games with only two of those coming in Serie A in 24 outings, albeit many of those were off the bench.

While it could be argued that having had a year to settle in a new environment, culture and squad, the Portuguese ace may well show significant improvement this season.

However, with the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain and the impressive development of youth product Patrick Cutrone, Silva may well find himself down the pecking order at the San Siro again this season.

With that in mind, Marca report that the striker is closing in on a move to join Sevilla, while Pianeta Milan, an affiliate of La Gazzetta dello Sport, claim that his No.69 shirt has been removed from the club store which would suggest the concerned parties are preparing for an exit.

Whether or not Gennaro Gattuso has enough firepower this season if Silva leaves remains to be seen though, as Atletico Madrid confirmed the signing of Nikola Kalinic from the Italian giants this week too.

Meanwhile, there could also be activity in terms of incomings as well as Calciomercato report that Milan are making progress in talks with Chelsea over an initial loan move for midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

It’s suggested that the 23-year-old could join Milan on loan with a €30m option to buy, but it remains to be seen whether or not that’s the deal that gets signed off by both clubs.

Similarly to Silva, Bakayoko struggled last season as he was unable to replicate the form he had shown at Monaco while at Stamford Bridge.

In turn, perhaps a switch to Italy where the slower tempo in play could suit his game coupled with Gattuso needing midfield reinforcements having struggled with a lack of depth in that department last season, it could be beneficial for both.

From a Chelsea perspective, with Maurizio Sarri signing both Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic this summer, it could leave Bakayoko struggling for playing time.
