Barcelona defender Jordi Alba could end up leaving the club at the end of the season after he failed to be selected by Ernesto Valverde to be one of the club’s captains for this season.

This is according to Don Balon, who note that the Spaniard isn’t sure why he wasn’t selected to be one of the club’s skippers this year, and that it’s thought that Alba may seriously question leaving the club come the end of this campaign.

The report also notes that Alba feels disrespected by the club for failing to be issued as one of the club’s captains this season, and it’s fair to see why given that the defender is one of Barca’s more experienced heads.

Alba could be tempted to leave Barca this season after recent events

Having been at the club for a number of years now, it’s easy to see why Alba would feel the way he does following him being snubbed for the choice of captaincy.

The Spanish international showed to everyone that he was one of Barca’s most important players last season, as he bagged three goals and 11 assists in all competitions to help the club wrap up another league and cup double.

Alba’s partnership with Lionel Messi is one of the best in the world, with the duo often combining multiple times a game to cause havoc amongst their opponent’s right-hand side.

Losing Alba would be a big blow for Barca, so not appointing him as one of their captains this season could end up being a big mistake from the Blaugrana.
