“Must improve” – these Chelsea fans slam Blues star despite Sarri’s side having lead against Huddersfield

In the opening game of their Premier League season, Chelsea lead 2-0 against Huddersfield at the John Smith Stadium. Sarri-ball seems to be in full swing during the Italian’s first league game in charge of the Blues.

Chelsea went into the lead after N’Golo Kante met Willian’s cross at the back post with a volley in the 34th minute. Whilst the goal didn’t seem to reflect a usual finish we’d expect,  it was enough to put the Blues ahead.

In an almost immediate reply to Kante’s opener, Steve Mounie hit the woodwork with a header, which was the Terrier’s best chance of the half by a fair bit.

Following Mounie’s near miss, Chelsea upped the ante and on the stroke of half-time Marcos Alonso was brought down in the box. Summer signing Jorginho stepped up and slotted home a cool, calm and collected penalty to give the Blue’s a 2-0 lead going into half-time.

Despite the away side having a comfortable lead over the Terriers, some Blues fans weren’t very happy with the performance of midfielder Ross Barkley.

The England international, who has struggled to hold down a first team place since his move from Everton in January, was slated by fans for his performance.

Blues fans will have big hopes for Barkley given the ability he showed during his time with the Toffees, however his showing for the club this afternoon will not fill fans with any confidence whatsoever.

Here are a few select tweets from fans slating the Englishman for his display today. To be fair, he hasn’t had the best game of his career!
