Wayne Rooney evidently still hasn’t lost it as he produced a remarkable bit of play in injury-time of DC United’s clash with Orlando City on Sunday.
With the game level at 2-2 in injury time, the 32-year-old showed the commitment and defensive work ethic that he displayed throughout his career in England to track back and make a crucial tackle to prevent a goal for Orlando.

Not content with that contribution, he sprung back up onto his feet and after advancing up the pitch, he swung in a delightful assist which was headed home to secure victory for his side, as seen in the video below.
Many would have written him off after moving to MLS and naturally the level of competition isn’t the same as the Premier League.
Nevertheless, Rooney showed that he still has plenty left in the tank as well as the desire to make his stint with DC United a success, and this will undoubtedly be replayed over and over Stateside as it quite simply is a brilliant sequence of play from the former England international.
He certainly made his mark to secure all three points for his side…
