‘He’s a beast!’ – Luke Shaw offers sparkling assessment of fellow United teammate

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has gone on record to express his admiration for Paul Pogba, following the team’s opening victory against Leicester.

The Red Devils got their latest Premier League campaign off to a flyer on Friday evening, beating Leicester City 2-1 thanks to goals from Pogba and Shaw. The former can seemingly do no wrong at the moment after an unbelievable summer of success with France at the World Cup, during which he figured prominently as they lifted the trophy with a 4-2 final victory against Croatia.

The 25-year-old even scored in that final, which will likely be remembered as the moment that he finally managed to live up to his immense potential on the biggest stage.

At club level, Pogba has not always seen eye to eye with United boss Jose Mourinho since returning to Old Trafford for his second spell at the club from Juventus in 2016. However, he has shown enough over the last two years to suggest that he is capable of being the difference-maker in games on his day and is therefore pivotal to the team’s chances of winning some silverware this season.

Fellow teammate and England international Luke Shaw took to the club’s official website today to offer his opinion on the French midfielder, revealing how important he believes him to be for the squad going forward.

“Honestly, he’s a beast! He’s unbelievable. He only came back three or four days before the game and it just shows how important he is for the team.” Shaw said to ManUtd.com.

“He was captain and is a very, very big leader in the dressing room, as you’ll have seen that in the videos from France [at the World Cup] of course.

“He’s a wonderful guy and an even better player on the pitch. Honestly, he’s so important for us.”

Supporters will hope that Pogba is once again at his best on Sunday when United travel to Brighton seeking their second consecutive win of the new season.
