Real Madrid could be set to launch a €90M swoop for Lazio and Serbia midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with AC Milan in pole position to land a deal for the star.
This is according to Don Balon, who note that the Spanish giants have been keeping an eye on the player for a while now, and that Julen Lopetegui has already asked the club to bolster his options in the centre of the park for this season.
The report also notes that Madrid need to pick up the pace if they are to sign the midfielder, as Milan have upped their attempts to secure a deal for the player and are now in the driving seat in the race for the Serb.
It’s easy to see why Real are keen to bring Milinkovic-Savic to the Spanish capital this summer, as he 23-year-old proved last year that he has one of the brightest futures in European football.
The Serbian international scored 14 and assisted eight in all competitions for Lazio, a great return for a central midfielder, as his side narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification in Serie A.
Only time will tell if Real are able to up their efforts and beat Milan to the signing of Milinkovic-Savic before it’s too late.
