Liverpool have reportedly beaten fierce rivals Man United and Chelsea to the signing of Ajax and Holland youngster Ki-Jana Hoever, with manager Jurgen Klopp playing a starring role in helping the Reds get the deal over the line.
This is according to the Liverpool Echo, who note that the 16-year-old was a target for United and Chelsea, as well as big-spending Manchester City, however it’s the Reds who managed to beat everyone and snag a deal for Hoever.

The Echo’s report also states that Klopp’s willingness to give some of Liverpool’s younger players a chance at Anfield is the the reason why Hoever decided on a move to Merseyside as opposed to London or Manchester.
Despite not much being known about Hoever, it’ll be a nice thing for Reds fans to see the club get one over on both Chelsea and United, even if it is for a 16-year-old!
Hoever played a fairly significant role for Ajax’s U17 side last season, with the right-back bagging two goals and an assist in 13 appearances, an impressive return for a defender.
It’s an encouraging sight for Liverpool fans to see their club beat a whole host of other bigs sides to a promising youth prospect, something that shows they are definitely thinking towards the future.
Only time will tell whether Hoever’s time at Anfield will become a success, however seeing as some of the Premier League’s biggest teams were after him, he must a whole host of potential in his locker!
