Luis Suarez has reportedly played a role in Barcelona making a move to sign Uruguay defender Ronaldo Araujo.

This is according to Don Balon, who note that the former Liverpool man has give rave reviews to Barca about just how good the 19-year-old is, and that the club have stepped it up a gear in their attempts to sign him.

The report also states that Araujo is set to cost the club around €5M, and that he will initially be a part of the Barca ‘B’ squad should he end up moving to the Camp Nou this summer.

Suarez looks to have played a big part in Barcelona making a move for Aruajo

Not much is known about Araujo, however he surely can’t be that bad if Suarez’s reviews of him have made Barcelona make their move for him!

The 19-year-old, who currently plies his trade with Uruguayan side Boston River Athletic Club, has already managed to clock up a total of 45 first team appearances in his career, an impressive amount for a player of his age.

With Gerard Pique now 31 years old, it seems like Barca will have to dip into the transfer market to replace the Spaniard in the years to come, that is, if Aruajo doesn’t join and turn into a class player.

Only time will tell if Barca manage to get a deal for Araujo over the line, and should they manage to do that, it’ll surely reinstate the idea that the club are planning for the future.
