Video: Superb build-up play ends with Franck Kessie giving AC Milan lead against Roma

AC Milan hosted Roma at the San Siro on Friday night, and after establishing themselves as the better side, Franck Kessie gave them a deserved lead just before half-time.

The Rossoneri needed to produce a positive response after squandering a 2-0 lead at Napoli last weekend, as they ended up coming away with a 3-2 defeat.

With that in mind, Gennaro Gattuso got the reaction he was looking for as Roma’s attacking threat was nullified for the most part during the opening 45 minutes as Milan continued to probe for a breakthrough.

They eventually found one after 40 minutes, as after some patient build-up play and a superb ball down the flank from Giacomo Bonaventura, Ricardo Rodriguez was able to cut back in and square it for Kessie to tap home.

The hosts looked patient and composed in attack throughout with the likes of Suso, Bonaventura and Hakan Calhanoglu providing plenty of technical quality, and they’ll hope that they can hold on to their lead this time round and learn from their mistakes against Napoli last time out.
