Worrying Liverpool stat shows Reds fans shouldn’t get ahead of themselves despite amazing season start

Liverpool may be set to sit atop of the Premier League table at Christmas and still be unbeaten in the league, however Reds fans shouldn’t be getting ahead of themselves if this stat is anything to go by.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been brilliant so far this year, with their 2-0 win over Wolves on Friday night making them the Premier League’s top team at Christmas.

The Merseyside club are yet to taste defeat in the league this term, and if they can keep up the form they’ve started this season with, they’d be in very good stead to claim their first-ever Premier League title come May.

However, fans of the club shouldn’t be getting carried away just yet, as the Reds are the team that have topped the Premier League table the most on Christmas day (three) without winning the title.

The last time the Reds topped the table on Christmas day was in the 2013/14 season, a campaign that saw them pipped to the title by Man City on the last day of the season.

And, given how Man City are performing so far this year, we wouldn’t be surprise to see the Reds suffer the same fate this time around, especially if this stat is anything to go by.
