Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez has been branded a disgrace by former Red Devils midfielder Paul Ince after the club’s defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
United were well-beaten at home to PSG, who came away with a 2-0 victory that looks to have almost put the tie to bed.
While losing to a top side like PSG is no disgrace, one could certainly have expected more from a top level player like Sanchez, who put in another anonymous display when he came on.
The Chile international has been a big flop since joining MUFC from Arsenal last January, and Ince did not hold back in his assessment of his performance against the Ligue 1 giants.
‘The way Alexis Sanchez is playing at the moment is nothing short of a disgrace,’ Ince told Paddy Power.
‘His performances are a joke for the wage he gets. I wouldn’t begrudge his high wage, either, if I thought that he was truly putting his all in and playing well, but when you give someone that kind of money you expect a lot more.
‘The fans deserve better, Ole deserves better, and so do the rest of his team.’
Ince was also critical of Paul Pogba for getting himself sent off late on as he’ll now miss the second leg.
The France international has been superb for United recently, but Ince feels he’s let the team down at a big moment with his mindless red card.
‘Paul Pogba really let himself down against PSG. Just when he’s won the fans over, and he’s doing everything you expect of a top player, he goes and behaves like that,’ he said.
‘And just like that, he’s out of the second leg. It’s stupid behaviour. He’s been a talisman under Ole, and to lose him for that game is beyond disappointing.’
