Barcelona attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho has reportedly submitted a transfer request at the club amid rumours linking him with Manchester United and Chelsea.

According to El Pais, the Brazil international made this request to Barca as long as three months ago, after a total failure to adapt and settle in at the Nou Camp.

This report comes as another report also links Coutinho with Man Utd and Chelsea, as Mundo Deportivo, translated by Sport Witness, claim they’re the two clubs showing the most interest.

This perhaps makes sense given the need of both clubs to strengthen in attack this summer, with United looking in urgent need of an upgrade on Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial.

Chelsea, meanwhile, look set to lose Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, with AS reporting the deal could be announced on Monday.

Philippe Coutinho has handed in a transfer request at Barcelona

Even if Coutinho has struggled in his time in La Liga, he was world class at Liverpool and could make a fine Hazard replacement if he got back to his best at Stamford Bridge.

Now it just remains to be seen how his transfer request will go down and how much Barcelona will demand for him this summer.
