Arsenal keen on transfer of £60m forward to go alongside Nicolas Pepe

Arsenal are still interested in a transfer swoop for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, according to a shock report.

The Gunners are widely expected to sign Lille star Nicolas Pepe, as reported by Goal and others, but i News also claim that won’t put them off continuing to pursue Zaha as well.

If Arsenal fans were in dreamland already with the imminent arrival of Pepe, the potential addition of Zaha alongside that would represent an incredible transfer window.

It’s hard to know how Unai Emery would necessarily fit all these players in, though it is worth saying that he could do with upgrades on both Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who were first choice out wide for most of last season.

It’s claimed by i News that Zaha would cost around £60million, which also seems a bit expensive, even if he is a quality player who could add something to Emery’s squad.

Mostly, however, if Arsenal get Pepe in then their next priority surely needs to be a central defender after they conceded a worrying 51 times in the Premier League last season thanks to sloppy displays from Shkodran Mustafi in particular.
