£360m trio in, £222m quartet out: Man Utd’s stunning potential XI if they clinch Kane & Sancho transfers, plus Pogba sale

OUT – Pogba, De Gea, Sanchez, Smalling

You may be wondering – how on earth are United going to afford spending £360m on just three players? Well, Man Utd’s recent spending down the years would suggest it’s not too out of character for them to pay a huge amount on big names, but of course player sales would surely also be needed.

Recent transfer rumours suggest, however, that there could be plenty of names heading out of Old Trafford as well this summer, which could give the club that much-needed cash boost.

It is being strongly suggested time and time again that Paul Pogba’s time at MUFC is coming to an end, with the print edition of Tuttosport, as reported by Calciomercato, suggesting that he will be on his way out of the club this summer and that his asking price will be around £130m.

Despite Pogba’s struggles in Manchester, they shouldn’t struggle to find a buyer somewhere who would be willing to pay something like that for a player who has shown he can be world class in the right setup.

Meanwhile, another high-profile name who could be shown the door is the struggling David de Gea, with a report from Don Balon claiming he has an admirer in Paris Saint-Germain, with on-loan young shot-stopper Dean Henderson in the frame to replace him as number one next season.

Transfermarkt claim De Gea’s value is around £54m, so the Red Devils can surely expect decent money if they do let him go, and if Henderson is promoted to number one, that’s a replacement signed at zero cost.

Elsewhere, the print edition of Italian paper Tuttosport, as translated by Sport Witness, have also claimed Alexis Sanchez could make his move to Inter Milan permanent this summer for potentially as much as £21m. The Chilean makes sense as a player United will want out as soon as possible, and if they can get that much for him after his rapid decline, they’ll be laughing.

Chris Smalling is another loanee who could make his move away permanent as Calciomercato report that MUFC want around £17m to sell him to Roma or other clubs this summer.

If we’ve done the maths right, that would be a net spend of just £138m for United this summer – perfectly affordable for a club with their resources, and of course there could be a few other sales to help supplement that, with Anthony Martial, Andreas Pereira, Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones among those the club could conceivably also look to offload if the money was right.
